Northwest University, Kano, has expelled 34 students for their involvement in examination malpractice following the approval of the university's Senate.
According to a statement issued by the university's Public Relations Unit on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu, the decision was reached during the Senate's 66th statutory meeting held on June 17 and 18, 2026.
The statement explained that the disciplinary action followed the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct after reviewing cases from the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session.
In addition to the expulsions, 18 students were suspended (rusticated), while 22 others received warning letters for various examination-related offences.
The university also cleared one student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, after reviewing her case and finding insufficient evidence of wrongdoing.
Northwest University reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and urged students to strictly comply with the institution's examination rules and regulations.
