US and Iran Agree on Roadmap Toward Final Deal After Switzerland Talks

The United States and Iran have agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement to end their more than 100-day conflict, mediators have said.

The first round of high-level talks in Switzerland ended with both sides agreeing to establish communication channels to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and reduce tensions in Lebanon.

Mediators from Pakistan and Qatar said the two countries reached an agreement on a “roadmap towards a final deal within 60 days,” while technical discussions are expected to continue throughout the week in Burgenstock, Switzerland.

The talks also led to the creation of a “deconfliction cell” involving the parties and Lebanese authorities to help prevent further clashes.

US Vice President JD Vance described the meeting as a historic opportunity to improve relations, while Iranian officials said Tehran would continue defending its rights, including uranium enrichment, but denied seeking nuclear weapons.

The negotiations come amid ongoing regional tensions involving Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and the United States.
