A series of Ukrainian drone attacks has targeted key locations in Russian-controlled Crimea and several regions inside Russia, causing infrastructure damage, transport disruptions and fuel shortages.
Authorities in Sevastopol reported that a drone strike hit the historic Panorama Museum, a landmark dedicated to the defense of the city during the Crimean War. The attack sparked a fire on the building's roof, which emergency crews later extinguished.
The latest strikes are part of an intensified Ukrainian drone campaign that has affected transportation networks and energy facilities across the region. Russian officials also reported an earlier attack on a passenger train in Crimea, which killed an assistant locomotive driver and injured the train's driver. Passengers were evacuated safely.
In response to the security situation, authorities reduced nighttime train services across Crimea and implemented restrictions on fuel distribution as supplies became strained. Long queues were reported at petrol stations, with some areas limiting fuel sales.
Russian air defense systems claimed to have intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight, including several targeting areas near Moscow and major industrial centers.
Drone attacks were also reported in Russia's Samara and Rostov regions, where oil infrastructure and fuel storage facilities were damaged. Fires broke out at several industrial sites following the strikes.
The attacks come as diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain stalled. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently proposed direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but Moscow rejected the offer.
As both sides continue military operations, the latest wave of drone strikes highlights the growing role of long-range attacks in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict and their impact on civilian infrastructure and economic activity.
