A Thai family is mourning the death of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found inside a suitcase in Pattaya, Thailand.
Police arrested an Australian man, identified as Simon Peter Carman, in connection with the suspected murder. He was detained at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport while allegedly preparing to leave the country.
Investigators said CCTV footage showed the suspect entering a condominium with the teenager and later leaving alone carrying a suitcase.
Police alleged that he transported the suitcase on a motorcycle and left it near a railway area, where the girl’s body was later discovered.
The suspect faces charges including murder, hiding a body, moving or destroying a body, and taking a minor for sexual purposes.
The victim’s father, Thongchai Donhomla, said he was devastated by the loss of his daughter, describing her as someone who always supported him.
The girl’s stepmother called for the suspect to receive the strongest punishment, saying she wanted him to face the full consequences.
Police have not yet announced when the suspect will make his first court appearance.
