Lebanon Parliament Speaker Rejects Israel Deal, Calls It an “Imposition”

Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has criticized a US-backed framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, describing it as an imposed arrangement rather than a deal that protects Lebanon’s interests.

Berri said the agreement could have serious consequences for Lebanon, warning that it may increase internal divisions and threaten national unity.

He compared the agreement to the controversial 1983 May 17 Accord, saying the current deal was even more damaging.

The agreement, announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has also been rejected by Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Amal Movement, which argue that it undermines Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry said thousands of people have been killed and injured in Israeli attacks since March, as tensions continue along the southern border.
