Kano By-Election A Test For APC Ahead Of 2027, Says Governor Yusuf

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has described the outcome of the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency by-election as an important test for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, Yusuf said the voter turnout and peaceful conduct of the election demonstrated continued support for the APC and its programmes.

The governor said the election was conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner, reflecting the choice of the electorate.

He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for organising the election and commended security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the process.

Yusuf congratulated the APC candidate on the victory and urged him to focus on delivering effective representation for the people.

He added that the result showed APC remains a strong political force in Kano State and is prepared for future elections.

The governor criticised the New Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to present a candidate, saying the party lacks a strong grassroots structure in the state.

He said the by-election exposed the weakness of opposition groups in Kano and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing projects that benefit residents.

Yusuf also congratulated President Bola Tinubu and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, over the party’s recent successes in by-elections across Nigeria.
