Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has promised that the state government will take responsibility for the welfare of the family of Ummulkhairi Aliyu, a woman who was killed by a mob in Maraban Jos, Igabi Local Government Area.
The governor said the government would support the late woman’s husband and four children, including providing funds for the children’s education.
Sani made the pledge during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, nearly two weeks after the incident.
Ummulkhairi, an Islamic teacher, was reportedly beaten to death by an angry mob on June 14 following allegations that she attempted to kidnap children. Her body was later set on fire before security operatives restored calm.
The governor condemned the killing, describing the mob action as barbaric, and assured the family that justice would be served.
He said security agencies were working to ensure that everyone involved in the killing was arrested and prosecuted.
According to him, 41 suspects have already been charged with culpable homicide, while investigations are ongoing into other suspects.
The governor vowed that anyone found responsible for the killing would face the full consequences of the law, stressing that no one has the right to take justice into their own hands.
