An Israeli soldier was killed and several others were wounded after a Hezbollah-operated drone hit an Israeli military position in southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Friday.
The soldier has been identified as Staff Sgt. Staff Sgt. Michael Tyukin, 21, who served in the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit and was from Ashkelon.
According to the IDF, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. local time, when a first-person view (FPV) drone launched by Hezbollah struck an area where Israeli troops were operating. Tyukin was killed in the strike, while four other soldiers sustained minor injuries and were evacuated for medical treatment.
The military said it is reviewing the circumstances of the attack, which comes amid ongoing cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanon frontier.
