INEC Opens Recruitment Portal for Ad Hoc Staff Ahead of 2026 Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the 2026 Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

In a statement released on Monday, the commission invited qualified Nigerians to apply for various election positions, including Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Technical Support Staff, and Registration Area Centre Managers.

INEC stated that interested applicants must apply through the INECPRES portal, which was created for the registration of eligible ad hoc personnel.

The commission said the application portal opened on June 27, 2026, and will close at midnight on July 18, 2026.

For the position of Supervisory Presiding Officer, eligible candidates include officers on Grade Levels 12 to 14 in the Federal Public Service and government ministries, departments, and agencies.

Priority will be given to qualified personnel from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), and National Population Commission (NPC).

INEC added that serving corps members, former corps members who completed their national service between 2024 and 2026, penultimate-year students of federal tertiary institutions, and eligible federal government workers with OND or NCE qualifications may apply for Presiding Officer and Assistant Presiding Officer roles.

The commission also explained that Registration Area Centre Managers would be selected from heads of schools or staff of institutions designated as registration centres, while technical support staff would be drawn from qualified ICT personnel within INEC.

INEC warned applicants against political involvement, stressing that ad hoc staff must not belong to any political party or openly support any candidate or political group.

The commission urged interested Nigerians to complete their applications before the July 18 deadline, noting that late submissions would not be accepted.
