The Federal Government has announced the completion of the first 118-kilometre section of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, a project valued at N257 billion.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja, stating that the remaining 164-kilometre section of the highway is expected to be completed by November 2026.
Umahi also revealed that President Bola Tinubu has approved 27 major road projects worth over N3.9 trillion across 15 states as part of efforts to improve transport infrastructure nationwide.
The approved projects cover states including Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba, and Yobe.
The minister added that the council approved the re-award of the 409-kilometre Niger State dual carriageway project under the tax credit scheme to Aliko Dangote at a cost of N1.8 trillion.
Other approved projects include the dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road, and rehabilitation of several highways across the country.
Umahi further stated that the Federal Government had approved the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway concession plan and ordered reconstruction of failed sections along the Ibadan axis using concrete pavement.
