A Palestinian doctor was killed and three civilians, including a child, were injured in an Israeli drone strike in central Gaza on Saturday, according to medical sources. The attack took place near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, where Dr. Jamal Abu Aboun, head of anaesthesia at Al-Yafa Medical Hospital, lost his life.
The incident occurred amid continued tensions despite a ceasefire agreement that was introduced in October. Additional Israeli artillery shelling was reported in eastern and southern areas of Khan Younis, as well as near the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Health authorities in Gaza say hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured since the ceasefire took effect. The broader conflict, which began in October 2023, has resulted in significant casualties and widespread destruction across the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials reported a series of attacks by Israeli settlers. In the northern town of Beita, settlers allegedly threw stones at homes and damaged vehicles. Similar incidents were reported in Masafer Yatta in the south, where farmland and trees were damaged.
Palestinian authorities say settler violence and military operations have increased across the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza war, contributing to rising casualties, arrests, and displacement among Palestinian communities.
