A 16-year-old student from Ekiti State, Owoeye Daniella Jesudunsin, has emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after recording an impressive 372 out of 400 marks.
The achievement was announced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board during its 2026 policy meeting on admissions held in Abuja. Registrar Ishaq Oloyede presented the list of top-performing candidates.
Daniella, who sat for the examination in Ogun State, is seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at University of Lagos. Her score breakdown includes 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics, and 82 in Biology.
Speaking about her performance, the teenager explained that this was her second attempt at the UTME after experiencing technical issues during her previous examination in 2025. She said her long-term preparation and determination helped her achieve the result.
She also credited her school, EFVP Wisdom Spring Model School, for supporting her academic journey and said she set a personal target of scoring above 370.
Coming second in the examination was Enwere Kingsley Ikenna from Imo State with 370 marks. He applied to Nile University to study Computer Science.
Bamisile Ayomide Emmanuel from Ondo State placed third with 369 marks and is seeking admission into Software Engineering at Federal University of Technology Akure.
Several other candidates also scored above 367, with preferred courses ranging from engineering to computer science across different Nigerian universities.
