At least 11 people have died in a tragic road accident along the Lagos–Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State after a vehicle reportedly somersaulted and fell off Eruku Bridge on Sunday night.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, the crash involved a gold Toyota vehicle with registration number GGE 722 KJ. The vehicle was said to have lost control, overturned, and plunged off the bridge, trapping all occupants inside.
FRSC officials confirmed that all 11 occupants — 10 adult males and one adult female — died in the incident. Rescue teams from the Itori Unit, supported by local residents, had to dismantle the vehicle to recover the bodies.
The corpses have since been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ifo.
Authorities suspect the crash may have been caused by overloading and possible driving under the influence. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution, especially during night travel along the busy Lagos–Abeokuta route.
The report was originally covered by Vanguard News, which also noted that officials have extended condolences to the families of the victims.
