In Sunni Islam, the ruling on how many days you can perform Qasr (shortened prayers) depends on your intention of stay:
General Rule (Majority Opinion).
You can perform Qasr prayer for up to 4 days (excluding the days of arrival and departure).
If you intend to stay 4 days or less, you shorten prayers (Qasr).
If you intend to stay more than 4 days, you must pray full prayers (no Qasr).
Details:
Qasr applies to:
Dhuhr (4 = 2 rak‘ah)
Asr (4 = 2 rak‘ah)
Isha (4 = 2 rak‘ah)
Fajr (2) and Maghrib (3) are not shortened.
اختلاف المذاهب (Differences among Sunni schools)
Maliki & Shafi‘i & Hanbali:
Maximum is 4 days
Hanafi:
Allows Qasr up to 15 days
If you intend to stay 15 days or more, then you pray full.
Summary
Most common opinion: 4 days
Hanafi opinion: up to 15 days
