A helicopter crash in Indonesia’s Borneo region has killed all eight people on board, according to authorities.
The aircraft, an Airbus H130 helicopter, lost contact shortly after take-off while flying over West Kalimantan province on Thursday. It had departed from a plantation area in the Melawi district and was travelling between remote palm oil estates.
Search and rescue officials said the helicopter disappeared from radar about five minutes after departure. Wreckage was later discovered in a dense forested and hilly area in Sekadau district.
All six passengers and two crew members on board were confirmed dead at the scene.
Rescue teams, including military and police units, were deployed to the crash site. However, recovery efforts were delayed due to the difficult terrain and thick jungle conditions.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and investigations are ongoing. One of the victims was reported to be a Malaysian national.
