The du’a between the two sujood (prostrations) is a short but very important supplication recited while sitting in prayer between the two acts of prostration in each rak‘ah of Salah.
In this position, the worshipper pauses in humility and calmness, sitting briefly before returning to sujood. It is a moment of deep submission to Allah, where a Muslim seeks forgiveness, mercy, and guidance.
The simplest authentic wording is:
Arabic: رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي
Meaning: “My Lord, forgive me.”
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also taught a longer supplication in this sitting position, which includes asking Allah for forgiveness, mercy, guidance, well-being, provision, and elevation in status.

Arabic: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَاجْبُرْنِي، وَعَافِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي، وَارْفَعْنِي
Transliteration: Allahummaghfir li, warhamni, wahdini, wajburni, wa‘afini, warzuqni, warfa‘ni
English Translation: “O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, rectify my condition, grant me well-being, provide for me, and raise my status.”
These supplications are recited while sitting between the two سجود (prostrations) in الصلاة (prayer), and they are a beautiful moment to seek forgiveness, mercy, and guidance from Allah.
