Explanation for a Surah Maryam (Mary) dua for pregnancy. Many Islamic scholars suggest turning to Surah Maryam (Chapter 19 of the Qur’an) for prayers related to conception and safe pregnancy, inspired by the story of Maryam (Mary) and the miraculous birth of Prophet `Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him).
1. Surah Maryam Reference:
Surah Maryam (19:16–21) narrates how Maryam was chosen and blessed with a child despite her being unmarried.
Muslims often recite these verses to seek Allah’s help for conception and protection during pregnancy.
2. Common Dua from Surah Maryam:
You can recite this part of Surah Maryam (in Arabic) and make your personal supplication (dua) after:
Transliteration:
Wadhkur fil-kitab Maryama ithi intabazat min ahliha makaanan sharqiyyan
Fattakhadhat min doonihim hijaban fa-arsalna ilayha roohana fatamaththala laha basharan sawiya
3. Suggested Personal Dua:
After reciting the above, you can say in your own words:
> “O Allah, just as You blessed Maryam with a child, bless me with a healthy pregnancy and a righteous child. Protect me and my baby from harm, and grant us ease, health, and barakah (blessing).”
4. Additional Tips:
Recite regularly, especially after Fajr and Maghrib prayers.
Maintain sincerity and patience, as Allah answers in His timing.
Combine with other general pregnancy duas from the Qur’an and Hadith, such as the dua of Prophet Zakariya (Subhanaka Allahumma inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen – Quran 21:87).
