TECNO has introduced two new smartphones, the Spark 50s 5G and Spark 50C, with significant differences in battery capacity, charging speed, camera performance and network connectivity.
The Spark 50s 5G features a 6,500mAh battery and 45W fast charging, while the Spark 50C comes with a 5,200mAh battery and 15W charging.
According to a report published by Tech-ish on October 20, 2026, the Spark 50s was launched on October 16, with sales scheduled to begin on October 20.
Spark 50s Offers Better Battery and Charging Performance
The TECNO Spark 50s 5G has a 6,500mAh battery, offering approximately 25 per cent more capacity than the Spark 50C's 5,200mAh battery.
Its 45W charging capability also provides three times the rated charging power of the Spark 50C, which supports 15W charging.
The Spark 50s is designed to appeal to users who need longer battery capacity and faster charging, particularly those who frequently use their smartphones throughout the day.
However, actual battery life and charging times will depend on usage patterns and other factors.
The Spark 50C also represents a reduction in battery capacity compared with its predecessor, the Spark 40C, which features a 6,000mAh battery and 18W charging.
This means the newer Spark 50C has approximately 13 per cent less battery capacity and slower charging than the previous model.
Differences in Performance and Cameras
The Spark 50s 5G is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 6400 processor and features a 50-megapixel rear camera alongside an 8-megapixel front camera.
In comparison, the Spark 50C uses the MediaTek Helio G81 processor and comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.
Both smartphones feature 6.78-inch displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels.
The high refresh rate is designed to provide smoother scrolling and navigation, although the display resolution remains unchanged.
Both models also run Android 16.
Spark 50C Offers Better Water Resistance
Despite its lower battery capacity and slower charging, the Spark 50C has an advantage in advertised dust and water protection.
TECNO lists the Spark 50C with IP68 and IP69 ratings, while the Spark 50s 5G offers IP64 Pro dust and splash protection.
These ratings suggest that the Spark 50C provides stronger water resistance on paper. However, the actual level of protection depends on the manufacturer's specifications and testing conditions.
The Spark 50C is advertised with 12GB of RAM, but this includes 8GB of extended RAM borrowed from internal storage. Its actual physical RAM is 4GB.
Meanwhile, the Spark 50s is available in 6GB and 8GB physical RAM configurations, depending on the variant.
Storage Options and Connectivity
TECNO's global specifications for the Spark 50C list 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage options, alongside Near Field Communication (NFC) support.
However, specifications vary by market. For example, the Bangladesh version lists 64GB and 128GB storage options without NFC.
Both smartphones also advertise communication features that can operate without conventional mobile network coverage.
The Spark 50C includes FreeLink 2.0, which uses Bluetooth to connect compatible nearby devices for calls and messages when cellular service is unavailable. TECNO claims a range of up to 1.5 kilometres under open, unobstructed conditions.
The actual operating range may vary depending on the environment and surrounding obstacles.
Is the Spark 50C Worth Upgrading To?
For existing Spark 40C users, the Spark 50C offers limited improvements in core hardware, as it retains the same Helio G81 processor and camera resolutions while reducing battery capacity and charging speed.
Its larger display and updated Android version are among the notable changes.
The Spark 50s 5G, meanwhile, offers more substantial hardware advantages, including 5G connectivity, a more powerful processor, a 50-megapixel rear camera, a larger battery and faster charging.
However, the final choice between the two new smartphones will depend on their prices, availability and configurations in individual markets.
Consumers are advised to confirm the specifications of the versions available in their countries before making a purchase.
