The Iranian Army has announced plans to upgrade its missile systems by increasing their range, speed and precision, according to an Army spokesman.
Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia disclosed this in an interview with Iran’s Fars news agency, saying the decision followed the recent war between Iran and the United States and Israel.
He said Iranian missiles used during the conflict, including Ground Force missiles that targeted enemy bases in Kuwait and naval cruise missiles used against enemy vessels, performed effectively.
“However, we concluded that we need to improve the speed and range of these missiles, as the enemy is now operating farther from our shores, at distances of up to 1,000 kilometres,” Akraminia said.
He added that the planned improvements would cover all missiles operated by the Iranian Army.
According to the spokesman, Iran has already made significant progress in enhancing the speed and accuracy of its missile systems, while future generations of the weapons are expected to incorporate more advanced capabilities.
The announcement comes amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington following the latest conflict and disagreements over diplomatic efforts in the region.
Iranian authorities have repeatedly emphasized the need to strengthen the country’s military capabilities in response to perceived threats from the United States and Israel.
