The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely claiming that nationwide online voter registration is currently ongoing.
In a public advisory issued on Saturday, the commission said the website, pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com, was falsely advertising a new voter registration window from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
INEC urged members of the public not to visit the website or submit any personal information through the platform, warning that doing so could expose sensitive data to cybercriminals.
The commission clarified that the nationwide voter registration exercise officially ended on July 26, 2026, and stressed that any information suggesting that a new online registration exercise is currently underway is false.
The fake website reportedly claims to offer services including voter information updates, polling unit transfers, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). It also falsely states that voter registration and PVC delivery are free.
INEC therefore advised Nigerians to remain vigilant and obtain electoral information only through the commission's official communication channels.
The commission urged citizens to disregard the fraudulent platform and avoid sharing personal details on unverified websites to prevent falling victim to online scams.
