An Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in western Gaza City has killed at least five people and seriously wounded six others, according to medical personnel at Al-Shifa Hospital.
The attack struck the Al-Asala building in the Remal neighbourhood early Saturday, October 3, 2026, without prior warning, according to Al Jazeera.
Remal is one of Gaza City’s densely populated residential areas, where thousands of displaced Palestinians are sheltering in makeshift camps.
Witnesses reported that the attack occurred during the night while residents were asleep. Three strikes hit the apartment, damaging several floors of the multi-storey building and triggering fires that burned for about an hour.
Palestinian Civil Defence teams continued searching through the rubble for missing people and bodies, while Israeli drones remained overhead and fighter jets were heard flying over Gaza.
Al-Shifa Hospital said four of those killed were women, including an elderly Christian woman and her daughter. The six injured victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The attack adds to the continuing casualties and destruction reported across Gaza.
