Boko Haram Kills 20 Farmers in Borno, Three Missing

Twenty farmers have been killed after suspected Boko Haram militants attacked farming communities in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.

The attack was confirmed by Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command.

According to Daso, 20 farmers were killed, while several others sustained injuries. Three people were also reported missing following the attack.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to establish further details.

Boko Haram has been carrying out attacks in northeastern Nigeria since the early 2000s, with the insurgency intensifying in 2009. The group’s violence has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced millions of people.

The group has also carried out attacks in neighbouring Cameroon, Chad and Niger, particularly around the Lake Chad Basin.

The latest incident highlights the continued security challenges facing farming communities in Borno State, where civilians remain vulnerable to attacks by armed groups.
