Bandits Kill Kaduna Man, Abduct Wife, Two Children, Eight Others

Suspected bandits have killed a man identified as Sikiru and abducted his wife, two children and eight other residents during a midnight attack on Babban Saura community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The attack reportedly occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2026, causing panic among residents as the assailants invaded three houses.

A community source said the attackers first broke into the home of an elderly man and abducted two of his children before moving to Sikiru’s residence.

The source said the bandits broke through the fence of Sikiru’s compound and entered the house. Sikiru reportedly attempted to resist them and struggled with some of the attackers before he was overpowered and killed.

His wife and two children were subsequently abducted.

The assailants also invaded a neighbouring house and abducted a woman and her four children. The woman was later rescued by soldiers and local vigilantes, while her four children remained in captivity.

The commander of the local vigilantes, Usman Adamu, confirmed the attack, saying nine people were initially abducted.

Adamu said the vigilantes received a distress call and immediately alerted soldiers, who joined them in pursuing the attackers.

According to him, the security personnel traced the bandits to the Eastern Bypass area, where they rescued a woman identified as Maman Mubarak.

He said efforts were made to rescue the remaining victims, but the attackers managed to escape with them.

“We are still concerned about the safety of those abducted,” Adamu said.

Another resident, who identified himself as Anas, said Sikiru contacted him after the attackers entered the community.

Residents and sympathisers later gathered at Sikiru’s residence, expressing concern over the deteriorating security situation in the area.

The latest attack occurred only days after suspected bandits invaded Kadaure community, also in the area, where they reportedly killed a man and stole his cattle.

Efforts to obtain a reaction from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as its Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached by phone and had not responded to a text message as of the time of filing the report.
