Army Kills 16 Terrorists, Repels Attacks on Military Bases in Adamawa

Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have killed 16 terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition during coordinated operations in Adamawa State.

The operations, conducted between September 30 and October 1, 2026, covered the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area and other locations within Sector 4 of the operation’s area of responsibility.

According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Mohammed Goni, troops ambushed a terrorist enclave in Boima and neutralised 16 terrorists.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, one Dane gun, six AK-47 magazines and a belt of pump-action cartridges.

The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI also carried out a precision air strike after an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance platform detected about 16 terrorists gathered with 15 motorcycles under a tree canopy in Sector 4.

The military said the target was engaged at about 5:30 a.m. on October 1, with a battle damage assessment confirming that the target had been destroyed. Some surviving terrorists reportedly fled the area.

Meanwhile, troops also repelled coordinated attacks on military positions at 226 Battalion in Garkida and 232 Battalion in Garaha.

The attackers were forced to withdraw following the military's response.

However, three soldiers were killed during the fighting, while wounded personnel were evacuated and are receiving medical treatment in stable condition.

The military said follow-up exploitation and mop-up operations are ongoing across the affected areas.

The Theatre Command said the operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination between land and air components and prevent terrorists from operating freely across the North-East.

It also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies as military operations continue.
