UK Records Nearly 10,000 Enforced Deportations in 2025

The United Kingdom recorded a significant increase in enforced returns of foreign nationals in the year ending December 2025, with 9,914 people deported, according to UK Home Office immigration statistics.

The figure represents a 21% increase from the 8,169 enforced returns recorded in the previous year.

The Home Office data showed that nationals of several countries accounted for a substantial proportion of the deportations.

Albania recorded the highest number, with 2,440 Albanian nationals subject to enforced returns in 2025. This accounted for about 25% of all enforced returns, although the figure was 7% lower than the previous year. More than half of the Albanian returns involved foreign national offenders.

Romania ranked second, with 1,818 nationals deported during the period, representing a 20% increase from the previous year. More than half were also foreign national offenders.

Brazil recorded 939 enforced returns, a 61% increase compared with the previous year. However, foreign national offenders made up a much smaller proportion of Brazilian returns.

India recorded 781 enforced returns, with the number almost doubling compared with the previous year. Indian nationals also recorded 8,652 voluntary returns from the UK during the same period.

The figures reflect the UK's continued efforts to increase the return of people who are subject to immigration enforcement, following a sharp decline in returns during the COVID-19 pandemic.
