The Nigeria Police Force has launched a new digital platform that enables Nigerians to report suspected financial fraud, submit evidence and track the progress of their cases.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, unveiled the NPF Vigilant App and the NPF–MTN Closed User Group (CUG) Network on Tuesday at the NPF Conference Centre in Jabi, Abuja.
The Vigilant App is designed as a citizen-focused platform where users can report suspected fraud, upload supporting evidence, monitor their complaints and receive feedback from the authorities.
The police said the NPF–MTN CUG Network would provide officers across the country with secure and affordable communication services to improve emergency coordination and operational responses.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Vigilant App was developed by the Force ICT Department in collaboration with stakeholders in the financial services sector.
The platform is also expected to strengthen coordination between the police and relevant institutions in accordance with existing laws and procedures.
Speaking at the launch, Disu described the initiatives as a practical step towards the digital transformation of the Nigeria Police Force.
He said the Vigilant App would improve interaction between the police and members of the public, while the CUG Network would strengthen internal communication and make the force more responsive and effective.
The police chief stressed that technology must be deployed lawfully and responsibly, with due regard for citizens’ rights, privacy, data protection and accountability.
The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Fayoade Mustapha, said the initiatives demonstrated the force’s commitment to technology-driven solutions aimed at improving service delivery and public engagement.
He urged Nigerians to download the NPF Vigilant App from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and use it responsibly to report suspected financial fraud.
