The Nigerian Army’s 1 Division has honoured four retiring personnel at a send-off ceremony held at the 1 Division Auditorium in Kaduna.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, was hosted by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Abubakar Wase.
According to the Army, the event was organised to recognise the retirees for their years of dedicated service, loyalty and sacrifice to the nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Wase commended the retiring personnel for their commitment and contributions to the Nigerian Army. He described the occasion as a demonstration of the strong bond and esprit de corps among military personnel, noting that such relationships go beyond rank and position.
He said the ceremony reflected the Nigerian Army’s established tradition of appreciating personnel who had served the country meritoriously.
Wase urged the retirees to carefully invest and manage their retirement benefits as they begin their transition into civilian life. He also assured them that they would remain members of the Nigerian Army family and encouraged them to maintain their links with the military community.
The retirees were Master Warrant Officer Ladi Mustapha of Headquarters 1 Division; Master Warrant Officer Oche Sunday, Chief Clerk, Headquarters 1 Division; Warrant Officer Obile Mu’azu of Headquarters 1 Division; and Mr Oyagha Theophilus of the 1 Division Finance Department.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, MWO Oche Sunday thanked the GOC and the leadership of 1 Division for giving them the opportunity to serve.
He expressed appreciation for the guidance, mentorship and encouragement they received throughout their careers, adding that the experiences and memories gained during their years of service would remain valuable as they entered a new phase of life.
