Middle East Tensions: Trump Cuts Short Weekend and Returns to White House.

US President Donald Trump has cut short his weekend stay at Camp David and returned unexpectedly to the White House amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Trump had been scheduled to remain at the presidential retreat in Maryland until Sunday, but the White House did not provide an explanation for the change in his travel plans.

Changes to presidential travel arrangements are not unusual, including during weekends when weather conditions can affect plans. Forecasts had predicted rain and thunderstorms in the Camp David area on Sunday.

The development came as the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group said the rebels had fired a ballistic missile toward Riyadh early Saturday. The coalition also reported that a fire broke out near the Saudi capital’s international airport.

Following the developments, the US State Department and several American embassies issued security alerts to US citizens in the region.

The State Department warned of the potential for an unforeseen escalation, citing previous Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, including attacks involving civilian airports.

The department said the ongoing military conflict could escalate rapidly and advised Americans outside the Middle East to seriously reconsider travel to and through the region.
