Israeli Attacks Kill Seven in Gaza as Ceasefire Violations Continue

At least seven Palestinians have been killed and more than 10 others wounded in a series of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, as violations of the ceasefire continue.

According to medical sources and witnesses, six people were killed on Wednesday when an Israeli drone struck a passenger van in Tal al-Hawa, southwest of Gaza City. The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its crews transported 13 wounded people to al-Quds Hospital, with several of them reported to be in critical condition.

An Al Jazeera correspondent reported that Gaza’s severely damaged healthcare system is struggling to treat the wounded, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

Earlier, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that an Israeli strike on a residential apartment near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City killed at least one woman.

In southern Gaza, four Palestinians, including two children, were wounded when an Israeli drone struck a shelter for displaced people. Two other Palestinians were seriously wounded by Israeli forces southeast of Deir el-Balah, while Israeli tank fire was also reported in southern Khan Younis.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health said nine bodies had arrived at hospitals during the previous 24 hours. It said at least 1,431 Palestinians had been killed and 5,026 wounded since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began in October last year.

The ministry also reported that Israel’s war on Gaza since October 2023 has killed at least 74,032 Palestinians and wounded another 175,142.

The United Nations has reported extensive destruction across the Gaza Strip. A UN Satellite Centre analysis in August found that about 82 percent of structures in Gaza, equivalent to roughly 200,000 buildings, had been damaged, with around two-thirds destroyed.

Residents continue to face severe humanitarian conditions amid ongoing violence and restrictions, with fears over access to food, healthcare, education and other basic necessities.
