Araghchi: We Hope Iran-US Talks Will Become More Meaningful

Iran says it hopes ongoing negotiations with the United States will become more serious following the submission of its latest peace proposal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said talks, which have been facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar, have taken considerable time in the past. However, he expressed hope that the latest discussions could make progress and lead to a response from Washington.

According to Al Jazeera, Iran remains willing to continue negotiations despite US President Donald Trump rejecting aspects of its proposals. Tehran is also waiting for a final response from the United States.

Araghchi maintained that Iran would not be intimidated by the presence of US forces in the region and said the country remained prepared to defend itself militarily if necessary.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has accused the United States of committing what it described as “war crimes” and called on Washington to end its military campaign in the Middle East.

Trump has also denied reports that his administration offered Tehran sanctions relief and access to frozen Iranian funds, describing the reports as a “hoax.”
