White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to Leave Trump Administration

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will leave the Trump administration at the end of August, saying she wants to spend more time with her young family.

Leavitt, 28, who is the youngest person ever to serve as White House press secretary, described her decision as “bittersweet” in a social media post on Wednesday.

She recently returned to the White House podium following the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in May. She also has a 2-year-old son.

Leavitt said she had concluded that she could not give her two young children the attention they deserve while meeting the demanding responsibilities of the White House press secretary.

President Donald Trump said he understood and respected her decision. He also said Leavitt would remain involved as one of his top outside advisers and continue to have an influential role within the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections.

Trump has not yet announced who will replace Leavitt as White House press secretary.

Before joining Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, Leavitt worked as a spokesperson for MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump super PAC. In 2022, she ran for Congress in New Hampshire, winning the Republican primary before losing the general election to Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas.
