The Taraba State Anti-Illegal Mining Task Force has repatriated scores of illegal miners to Sokoto, Gombe, Bauchi, Niger and Zamfara states.
The chairman of the task force, SP Jamu Emmanuel, said the action was taken to prevent potential security threats and protect peace and stability across Taraba State.
According to him, illegal mining has contributed to insecurity, environmental degradation and economic losses in the state.
Emmanuel disclosed that recent operations led to the arrest of more than 50 suspects and the dispersal of over 500 illegal miners in the Gantu area of Bali Local Government Area.
He added that 24 individuals were specifically repatriated to Zamfara, Niger, Yobe and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The task force chairman warned that the government would not allow outsiders to enter Taraba and engage in activities capable of disrupting public peace.
He stressed that the task force would continue its crackdown on unauthorised mining and warned that anyone found involved in illegal mining would face the full force of the law.
