The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ikara Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday.
According to Hassan, the suspects were arrested following credible information provided by a kidnap victim who escaped from captivity, as well as intelligence from members of the public.
The victim reportedly informed the police on Tuesday that he had been abducted and identified a house belonging to 65-year-old Ja’e Samalu in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, as the location where he was held.
Following the report, officers from the Ikara Police Division, working with local vigilantes, raided the identified location and arrested six suspects aged between 20 and 65.
Hassan said the suspects remained in police custody while investigations continued to determine their individual roles in the alleged kidnapping activities.
He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the suspected criminal network.
The Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the police operatives and members of the public for providing timely information that led to the arrests.
Rabiu urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police station.
He also warned residents to be cautious of criminals who may use residential buildings as hideouts or holding facilities for kidnapped victims.
The commissioner stressed that community vigilance and timely sharing of information were essential to preventing and dismantling criminal networks across the state. :::
