The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, the suspects—two men and two women—were arrested on Sunday at about 2:00 p.m. following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police over the alleged offences.
Police operatives reportedly searched the suspects’ residences and recovered two firearms. One locally made cut-to-size firearm was recovered from a shop belonging to one of the female suspects, while a pump-action firearm was recovered from the residence of the other.
Ojelabi said the suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation, while efforts are underway to arrest other suspects who are still at large.
In a separate development, the police also arrested six suspected members of an unlawful society at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The suspects were reportedly arrested after the police received information that hoodlums had invaded the institution with dangerous weapons and injured two students.
Ojelabi added that two of the suspects confessed during interrogation to being members of the Aye Confraternity.
He said investigations into the cases are ongoing and that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.
The police command urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to help prevent crime and maintain peace across the state.
