Plateau Killings: Police Deploy More Officers, Vow to Arrest Perpetrators

The Plateau State Police Command has intensified security operations in Bin’per community, Bwoi-Ruf District of Mangu Local Government Area, following a deadly attack on the community on Tuesday morning.

The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, disclosed this during an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in the affected community.

Faniyan expressed condolences to traditional leaders, local government officials and residents of Mangu over the attack. He assured the people that the police would identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killings.

According to him, the command would use all constitutional means at its disposal to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The commissioner also delivered a condolence message from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who condemned the attack and directed the deployment of necessary measures to prevent further violence in the area.

Faniyan said security had been strengthened in Bin’per and neighbouring communities to prevent further attacks and restore confidence among residents.

He urged members of the public to provide credible and timely information that could assist investigators in identifying and apprehending the attackers.

The police commissioner also appealed for calm and vigilance, warning residents against taking the law into their own hands.

He cautioned that resorting to jungle justice could worsen tensions and undermine efforts to bring the perpetrators before the courts.

The Plateau State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining peace across the state.
