Sensitive electoral materials for Saturday’s Osun State governorship election have arrived at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Osogbo, with INEC set to commence distribution to the state’s 30 local government areas.
The materials arrived at the CBN premises at about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, escorted by security operatives. Officials of INEC and the CBN immediately began inspecting the materials, while political party agents, security personnel and journalists kept watch over the process.
The distribution had earlier been delayed following the reprinting of ballot papers to include the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in compliance with a High Court order.
Speaking on the development, INEC Osun Public Relations Officer, Musa Olurode, said the sensitive materials would be distributed to all 30 local government areas and the relevant area office that night.
He added that security personnel, transportation arrangements and INEC officials were already prepared for the distribution exercise.
The development marks a major step in preparations for Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
