Oman Condemns Colombia’s Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty Over Syrian Golan

Oman has strongly condemned the Colombian government’s decision to recognise Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.

In a statement, Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision violates international law and contradicts international legitimacy, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 497, adopted in 1981.

Oman reaffirmed its position that the Golan Heights remains occupied Syrian territory and expressed its continued support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Omani government also called on all countries to respect the United Nations Charter, international law and relevant international resolutions concerning the status of the Golan Heights.

The statement was issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
