Norway’s King Harald’s Health Worsens While Hospitalised

The health of Norway’s King Harald, 89, deteriorated over the weekend while he was receiving treatment in hospital, the Norwegian royal household said on Sunday.

King Harald, Europe’s oldest reigning head of state, was admitted to hospital on Monday and was initially treated for anaemia.

The palace said the king is now receiving antibiotics for a bacterial infection in his bloodstream and has responded to the treatment.

Despite the deterioration, the palace said his condition remains stable.

King Harald has faced several health problems in recent years, but has continued to carry out official duties when his health permits.
