The Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, saying operatives recovered 65 bags of dried cannabis, popularly known as skunk.

Ofoyeju said the agency had launched a manhunt for a suspected drug kingpin identified as Sunday, who reportedly fled the area following the raid.

He assured that the suspect would be arrested, adding that the agency was intensifying efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks across the state.

In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives arrested nine suspected drug dealers at various drug hotspots in Edo State.

The suspects included four women and five men, among them a 58-year-old man, Musa Muhammed, who was allegedly found in possession of different quantities of illicit substances.

Other suspects arrested were Ebere Anthony, 55; Gift Oliseyenum, 31; Boniface George, 27; Muzamilu Mustapha, 28; Faustina Peter, 27; Chucks Odili, 36; Anna Agbona, 17; and Julius Enebuli, 42.

According to the NDLEA, the suspects were found with various quantities of cannabis, Loud, Colorado, methamphetamine and Tramadol.

The agency said the arrests and seizures represented a significant step in its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Edo State.

Ofoyeju urged residents to support the fight against illicit drugs by providing credible information that could assist security agencies in apprehending suspected traffickers.

He also assured the public that investigations into the activities of the arrested suspects would continue and that those found culpable would be prosecuted.
