NAQS Postpones Recruitment Shortlist Release

The Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) has postponed the release of shortlisted candidates for its ongoing recruitment exercise, which was originally scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The agency said the decision was made to ensure that the recruitment process remains thorough, transparent and accurate.

In a public notice signed by the Director of Human Resources, ACG Issaka Ahmed, and shared through the agency’s official X account, NAQS apologised for the delay and asked applicants to remain patient.

NAQS said a new date for the release of the shortlist would be announced through its official communication channels.

The recruitment exercise opened on July 28 and closed on August 10, 2026. According to figures released by the agency, the exercise recorded 606,928 attempted applications, while 407,659 applications were successfully submitted. A further 199,269 applications were incomplete at the close of the portal.

The Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II position, which requires an HND or bachelor’s degree, received the highest number of applications with 290,076. It was followed by Quarantine Assistant II, with 117,177 applications.

Other categories recorded 79,685 applications for NCE, 70,170 for OND, and 13,183 for the Superintendent position, which requires a master’s degree.

NAQS had earlier announced plans to conduct a computer-based test and interviews after the release of the shortlist. However, applicants will now have to wait for the agency to announce new dates.

The agency advised applicants to rely only on information published through its official communication channels to avoid misinformation.
