US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and envoy, Jared Kushner, is set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday as Washington seeks to revive a 15-point plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
The meeting comes a day after Kushner held a rare meeting with Hamas political leaders in El-Alamein, Egypt. He also met with Qatari, Turkish and Egyptian mediators, accompanied by Board of Peace Director-General Nickolay Mladenov and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The discussions are focused on turning the proposed roadmap into concrete and verifiable steps toward implementation.
Trump has previously said an agreement had been reached for Hamas to disarm. Under the plan, Hamas would gradually hand over control of Gaza to an international force, while Israeli forces would withdraw from the territory.
However, Netanyahu has publicly rejected the proposal, particularly its provisions concerning Hamas’s gradual disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli troops.
Hamas has said it accepts the plan but insists that Israel must first fulfil its own obligations, including withdrawing its forces from Gaza and halting attacks.
The diplomatic effort comes amid continued tensions despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas in late 2025. According to Al Jazeera, at least 1,260 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israeli forces since the ceasefire began.
Kushner’s meetings in Egypt and Israel are part of a broader effort by the US-led Board of Peace to break the current diplomatic deadlock and advance the proposed Gaza settlement.
