A farmer identified as Mr Dada has been killed by suspected bandits while working on his farm in Oshokoshoko, Oworo, Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday morning, causing fear among residents and raising fresh concerns about the safety of farmers in the area.
According to community sources, Dada went to his farm in the morning as usual but failed to return home. His family members became worried after they could no longer reach him and later went to search for him.
The family eventually found his lifeless body on the farm, with what community members described as machete wounds.
The killing has heightened fears among farmers who depend on the area for their livelihoods, particularly those who travel deep into the bush to cultivate their crops.
Residents are now calling on the Kogi State Government and security agencies to increase security patrols, surveillance and intelligence gathering along the Obajana–Kabba corridor.
Community members warned that more farmers could be at risk if urgent security measures are not put in place to protect vulnerable farming communities in the area.
