Israeli forces have killed at least one Palestinian in Gaza, while the body of another person was recovered from beneath the rubble of a destroyed building, according to Palestinian health authorities.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said hospitals received the bodies of two Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks, including one whose remains were recovered from the rubble.
The Qatar News Agency, citing medical sources, reported that Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza on Saturday.
At least five other people, including children, were wounded in Israeli attacks in Khan Younis and Rafah, according to local sources. A woman was critically injured after an Israeli tank reportedly opened fire on tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis, while a girl was seriously wounded by Israeli army fire in the al-Mawasi coastal area of Rafah.
Israeli artillery also shelled areas east of Khan Younis, while additional injuries were reported in the al-Mahatta area of Gaza City's Tuffah neighbourhood.
Death Toll Continues to Rise
Gaza's Health Ministry said the Palestinian death toll since Israel launched its military campaign in October 2023 has reached 73,386, with 174,250 people wounded.
The ministry said many victims remain trapped beneath destroyed buildings and have not been included in the official death toll because rescue and civil defence teams are unable to reach them.
Since a ceasefire took effect in October, Palestinian authorities have recorded 1,258 deaths, 4,139 injuries and 807 bodies recovered from the rubble.
Netanyahu Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has rejected US President Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said Israeli forces would not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is “genuinely disarmed.”
The rejection follows a similar position from the US-led Board of Peace, which said an Israeli withdrawal would only take place after Hamas’s disarmament.
The disagreement has left the terms of the ceasefire and the timeline for a possible Israeli withdrawal unresolved, while casualties in Gaza continue to increase.
