The Federal Government has opened applications for 18 positions under the Value Chain for Northern Nigeria Programme, a major agricultural development initiative supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the French Development Agency (AFD).
The programme is designed to improve farmers’ incomes, food security and climate resilience across nine Northern states: Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Zamfara, Borno, Katsina, Yobe, Bauchi and Kano.
Available positions include National Programme Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Agricultural Production Specialist, Rural Infrastructure Specialist, Food and Nutrition Specialist, ICT4D Support Specialist, Financial Controller, Accountant, Procurement Specialist, Internal Auditor and Human Resources Officer.
Most positions require at least a master’s degree in a relevant field and 7–10 years of professional experience, especially in internationally funded agricultural development projects. Some finance, audit and procurement positions also require relevant professional qualifications.
Successful candidates will receive two-year renewable contracts, subject to annual performance evaluation. The positions will be based in Abuja, with regular travel to the participating Northern states.

Application deadline: September 6, 2026, at 12:00 noon.
The ministry warned that falsifying personal information could lead to disqualification. Successful appointees, particularly the National Programme Coordinator, must also have no other ongoing assignment when their contracts begin.
The programme is expected to continue until March 31, 2034, with financial closure scheduled for September 30, 2034.
