The Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has suspended three students of its Faculty of Law for two academic years over alleged examination malpractice.
The suspension, which commenced on June 25, 2026, will last until June 24, 2028.
The university Registrar, Ambrose Ugwu, disclosed this in separate memos issued to the affected students on Monday in Enugu.
The suspended students are Isong Ugwu, Gad Nwosu and Roseline Nnamani. The trio comprises two male students and one female student.
According to the Registrar, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, acting on behalf of the University Senate, approved the recommendations of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee.
The students were directed to surrender any university property in their possession to their respective Heads of Department and immediately vacate the university campus.
The university also informed the students’ sponsors and the National Universities Commission (NUC) of the disciplinary action.
Ugwu said the affected students would be required to apply for readmission after completing their two-year suspension in June 2028.
Meanwhile, another Faculty of Law student, Goodluck Iwuamadi, was cleared of an allegation of examination malpractice.
The Registrar said Iwuamadi’s exoneration followed the recommendation of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee.
