176 Kidnap Victims Freed in Kwara After Six Months

A total of 176 people abducted during the February 3, 2026 attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom.

The Kwara State Government announced the development on Wednesday through its official Facebook page, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and everyone who contributed to securing the victims' release.

The victims were kidnapped after heavily armed attackers, suspected to be linked to Boko Haram, invaded the two rural communities on motorcycles and carried out a coordinated assault that lasted several hours.

The attack was one of the deadliest ever recorded in Kwara State, with reports indicating that more than 200 people were killed, several others sustained injuries, homes and businesses were destroyed, and many residents were displaced.

Local vigilantes who attempted to resist the attackers were reportedly overpowered, with some allegedly trapped and burnt inside their office.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances surrounding the victims' release, but further details are expected.
