Zamfara LG Chairman Kidnapped as Gunmen Kill Four Security Personnel.

The Chairman of Bungudu Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Nura Abdullahi, has been abducted by armed bandits following a deadly attack on his residence in the early hours of Saturday.

During the assault, four members of his security team—two police officers and two local vigilantes—were killed in a fierce gun battle with the attackers.

Residents said the gunmen stormed Bungudu town in large numbers before heading directly to the chairman's home, where they kidnapped him along with members of his family and fled toward a nearby forest.

Military authorities later confirmed that troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded swiftly after hearing gunfire and engaged the attackers. The intervention led to the rescue of five family members, including the chairman's wife, mother, two children, and another relative.

However, the gunmen escaped with the council chairman. The military also reported that two police officers, one vigilante, and one civilian lost their lives during the attack, while the chairman's elder brother, Bello Umar, sustained injuries.

A joint search-and-rescue operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes is currently underway to locate and rescue the abducted chairman.

Security authorities have assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to secure his safe return and urged the public to remain calm while providing credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
