Samsung has introduced the new Galaxy Z Fold8, expanding its foldable smartphone lineup with a slimmer and lighter design while maintaining flagship-level performance. The device joins the newly named Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, giving buyers a choice between two premium foldable models.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 features a 7.6-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It also includes a 5.5-inch AMOLED cover display, both offering smooth visuals and vibrant colors.
Powering the device is Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB, with a 16GB RAM variant also available. The phone runs Android 17 with One UI 9 and is promised seven major Android OS upgrades.
For photography, the Galaxy Z Fold8 comes with a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, while both the inner and outer selfie cameras are 10MP. It supports 8K video recording and up to 4K 120fps video capture.
The device is powered by a 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging, 20W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Samsung says the battery can charge up to 63% in 30 minutes.
Despite its slimmer build and reduced weight of 201 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold8 retains premium features such as IP48 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, Samsung DeX, Ultra Wideband (UWB) support, stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Samsung continues its minimalist packaging approach. The Galaxy Z Fold8 ships in a recyclable cardboard box and includes only a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, with no charger or protective case included.
According to early reviews, the Galaxy Z Fold8 delivers flagship performance in a lighter form factor, though some users have expressed concerns about the lack of a telephoto camera and its premium price tag.
