Russia launched another missile attack on Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, early Wednesday, marking the third major strike on the city within a week, Ukrainian officials said.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the attacks sparked fires in two districts of the capital. At least two people were injured, with one hospitalized for treatment.
The latest strike follows a Russian missile attack on the southern port city of Odesa on Tuesday that injured 10 people. Earlier this week, another large-scale assault on Kyiv killed at least 14 people and damaged several buildings.
The renewed attacks come as both Russia and Ukraine intensify the use of long-range missiles and drones in the ongoing war, now in its fourth year.
Ukraine also announced that its military had struck several Russian fuel tankers operating in the Sea of Azov, saying the vessels were supplying fuel to Russian-occupied Crimea. Kyiv described the operation as part of its campaign to disrupt Russia's military logistics.
The escalation coincides with NATO's annual summit in Ankara, Türkiye, where alliance leaders are discussing increased military support for Ukraine and regional security.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country had signed new defense cooperation agreements with Estonia, the Netherlands, and Denmark, with more deals expected with Germany, Norway, Finland, and Canada.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to meet Zelenskyy during the summit after holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the gathering. Trump expressed hope that both sides would reach a peace agreement soon, saying he believes Russia and Ukraine are interested in ending the conflict.
