The Ogun State Police Command has been commended for rescuing 18 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were left stranded after their vehicle broke down in a notorious kidnapping hotspot in the state.
The commendation came from the General Manager of Fresh FM Lagos, Taiwo Akinsola, popularly known as Omobabaolowo Woli ni Ilasamaja, in a letter addressed to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni.
According to Akinsola, the incident occurred on June 30 when the corps members' vehicle developed a mechanical fault in an area known for frequent kidnapping and other criminal activities. Fearing for their safety, the stranded travellers contacted the police for emergency assistance.
Police officers responded swiftly to the distress call, secured the area, and safely evacuated all 18 corps members to Ijebu Ode, where they were provided temporary accommodation in a hotel.
Akinsola praised the officers for their professionalism, courage, and prompt action, noting that their intervention prevented what could have turned into a tragic incident.
He also commended the Divisional Police Officer and the patrol team involved in the operation, saying their quick response had strengthened public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The police personnel were further encouraged to continue their commitment to protecting lives and property across Ogun State.
